The United Hates, a poem by Leonard Pigg III

Dark face in a bright city

Getting dirty looks, what a pity

“Man” in traffic, driving a big truck

Stares hard, as if I give a fuck

It’s his hang-up not mine

I’m trying to get along just fine

Ignore the ignorant, let them rave and rant

I find their brain is the size of an ant

This isn’t your world, its ours

Keep your hatred in your cars

The most cowardly of bosses

Secretly burn crosses

Choke down hate in the workplace

Attempt to smile at a darkened face

Denying promotions, simulating emotions

When we all know the beast within

Regardless of color, hatred is the sin
