Marvel Cinematic Universe Infinity Saga Movie Rankings

By Nate Johnson

  1. Avengers Endgame (2019)- A long movie, but I wouldn’t take any of it out. Alone, it’s a slow okay movie. As the culmination of 22 films, it hits so many emotional points for me. The movie really pays off for the fans who have invested and have watched all of the movies. Their version of time travel was on point and even though the good guys win, there are consequences and deaths.
  2. Avengers Infinity War (2018)- The movie lived up to the hype and then some. The last five minutes alone were a back and forth of my elation and devastation.
  3. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012)- This was the first movie since Star Wars: Phantom Menace that I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. The movie set a standard so high for future movies. So many characters came together and worked well. I enjoyed the story arch and watching the film was an emotional rollercoaster for me. The Battle of New York was epic and will be a tough task to beat.
  4. Captain Marvel (2019)- This is now the best Standalone movie in the MCU. A fast pacing movie, I was on the edge of my seat. I loved the 90s nostalgia.
  5. Iron Man 3 (2013)- Immediately following Avengers, Iron Man wrapped up his trilogy in stunning style. It was the end of an era. The amount of Iron Man suits made this movie for me. It also reset Tony Stark by literally destroying his suits and home.
  6. Black Panther (2018)- I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and I felt bad for the villain at the end.
  7. Captain America: Civil War (2016)- I could not have imagined seeing so many superheroes in one shot could be done so well. Each character had screen time and this movie seems like a better “Avengers 2” movie than Ultron was.
  8. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)- Funny. I was laughing the whole time. I went with friends who weren’t big superhero movie fans and they loved it! It’s also a great lead into Infinity War.
  9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)- This movie took the shine off Captain America and gave him some grit.
  10. Spider-man: Far From Home (2019)- This movie moved the story forward for Spider-Man. I enjoy how there are consequences from Infinity War and the post-credit scenes added much more for phase four.
  11. Iron Man (2008)- The original. The one that made this cinematic universe possible.
  12. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)- I’m a bigger fan of baby Groot. I think the three years made the comedy stick more with me. Plus, a “good” character died. Not everyone is immortal.
  13. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)- A good movie that could never live up to the original. I’m glad one good guy died to remind audiences of their mortality.
  14. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)- This is the third Spider-Man reboot this century. I enjoyed Andrew Garfield as Spiderman more. He’s a good complementary character like in the Civil War, but I don’t need another backstory of this superhero.
  15. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)- A fun heist movie that tied into Infinity War well.
  16. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)- I enjoyed the character development of Captain America. A good historical piece as well. The ending was nice with him realizing he wasn’t in the 1940s anymore.
  17. Ant-Man (2015)- A funny summer comic relief film.
  18. Thor (2011)- Good story arch of losing powers and gaining maturity. A character development movie.
  19. Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)- Maybe I saw it too late, but it’s not my type of movie. I’m not into 80s nostalgia.
  20. Doctor Strange (2016)- A good movie to watch on Netflix. I liked the message of personal sacrifice Dr. Strange learns.
  21. Iron Man 2 (2010)- This movie set up the Avengers. Like other sequels, this one couldn’t live up to the hype. I did enjoy the story arch of Tony getting help from his father.
  22. Thor: The Dark World (2013)- I don’t remember much. The worst sequel of the bunch. Other than Loki faking his death and stealing the throne from Odin. Another set up sequel for the larger universe.
  23. The Incredible Hulk (2008)- Considering Bruce Banner is played by a different actor tells you how well this movie went.
