Long Lost Early American Poem, from a good wife to her husband. On Laundry.

Found amidst some old forgotten parchments, somewhere in the early British North American colonies. An amazing find; a real slice of life.

Please, my dearest husband,
My troth. My love
God has’t put us together
like hand in glove.

In love we are united,
By ne’er ending laundry
Are we very much plighted

Your will is generally my command
I know I do not merit it,
But if I have but one demand,
my dearest love, my treasure bright,
please do not amongst the colors,
place your laundry white.
