Some people are like wounded animals

They get hurt and lash out at the nearest thing

It’s an instinctive reaction to pain

Humans do the same thing sometimes

Despite our higher level of thinking

Or our educational acumen

We sometimes react poorly to negativity

Which becomes easier in a darker world

Through the haze of mistrust and bedlam

There is something better for us all

If not, then we’re no better than the animals
